Climate change is emerging as one of the greatest challenges to sanitation. Floods, cyclones, salinity intrusion, and droughts are increasingly disrupting the sanitation chain from toilets to treatment plants, threatening public health and undermining progress toward SDG 6. The inaugural session of City-San Connect focused on “Climate Resilient WASH”, exploring how cities can adapt sanitation systems to withstand climate shocks and build resilience. Discussions highlighted technological solutions, inclusive approaches, and collaborative frameworks to protect communities and strengthen service delivery.
