🚰 City-San Connect | Quarterly Learning Webinar Series 🌍

August 26 @ 11:00 am - August 26 @ 01:00 pm UTC+6

About City-San Connect

City-San Connect is a new quarterly webinar series launched by ITN-BUET under the SaniRepo platform. It is designed to foster cross-city learning and collaboration, bringing together local governments, sector professionals, development partners, and researchers to discuss real challenges and practical solutions in urban sanitation.

Every session highlights a key theme, combining expert presentations, city case studies, and open discussions. The webinars are hosted in partnership with national and international collaborators and are open to participants across the region and beyond.

Why Climate-Resilient WASH Matters

Climate change is no longer a distant threat—it is a present challenge for urban sanitation. Cities are increasingly exposed to rising temperatures, intense rainfall, waterlogging, and other climate-related shocks that disrupt sanitation systems across the chain—from household containment to treatment and safe reuse.

As we pursue SDG 6—universal access to safe water and sanitation, there is an urgent need to design systems that are not only inclusive and sustainable, but also climate-resilient. This calls for an adaptive mindset and innovative technologies that can withstand stress, ensure continuity of service, and protect vulnerable populations.

This is why the focus on climate-resilient WASH is so important. We need to rethink how our sanitation systems are planned, built, and managed so they can adapt to changing weather, protect people’s health, and serve communities better even in crisis.

This Session’s Focus: Climate Resilient WASH

The upcoming session on August 26, 2025, will explore how cities are applying technology and innovative approaches to make sanitation systems more resilient to climate impacts.

Participants will learn:

  • How climate change is affecting sanitation systems—both infrastructure and service delivery
  • What technological solutions (e.g. modular STPs, container-based sanitation, nature-based systems, sensor-driven monitoring) cities are piloting or scaling up
  • How planning tools and decision-support models are helping cities adapt to extreme climate events
  • What city-level strategies, governance practices, and financing approaches are enabling climate-smart sanitation
  • Insights from Bangladeshi cities and international experiences on building adaptive and inclusive systems

This 90-minute virtual session will include presentations from national and international experts, followed by interactive discussion and Q&A.

Why Join?

City-San Connect is more than just a webinar—it’s a platform for connecting cities through shared learning. By showcasing case studies from different cities, the platform allows participants to see what’s working in similar contexts and what can be adapted to their own.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Real stories and solutions from the ground
  • Fresh perspectives on sanitation and climate resilience
  • A chance to share your own experiences and ask questions
  • Opportunities to build partnerships with other cities, institutions, and professionals
  • Access to high-quality content, including recordings, on Sani Repo, the growing digital library for WASH learning

It’s a platform for inspiration, exchange, and action open to all who care about making sanitation systems stronger, smarter, and more inclusive.
